Packers vs Lions Odds: Who Is Favored To Win?
The Detroit Lions are currently 7.5-point favorites over the Packers for the Lions' annual Thanksgiving home game. Detroit has won 7 of their past 8 games and has won 4 consecutive games over the Packers.
π Point Spread | Lions -7.5 |
π Total | 47 |
π Moneyline | DET -360, GB +285 |
β Last Verified: | December 18, 2024 |
The Lions have won four consecutive games against the Packers, including in Week 4 earlier this year. As 7.5-point favorites, DraftKings Wisconsin oddsmakers clearly believe the Lions are the superior team and should take care of the Packers on Thanksgiving.
The Lions' total win margin was only 10 points in their two 2022 games combined, but in Week 4 earlier this year, Detroit handled the Packers easily. The 34-20 score isn't indicative of how in control the Lions were throughout the course of the game. Detroit has owned the Packers as of late and will look to continue that trend in Week 12.

Packers Lions Spread: What The Spread Tells Us
The Detroit Lions are currently 7.5-point favorites against the Packers. In 2022, the Lions were one of the best teams against the spread in all of football, finishing with a 12-5 record. They also went 2-0 against the Packers against the spread, winning both games despite being 4- and 4.5-point underdogs in both games.
In 2023, the Packers are 5-5 against the spread, while the Lions are 6-4.
Packers Lions Line: What The Moneyline Tells Us
The moneyline is currently set at -360 for the Lions and +285 for the Packers. At -360, the implied probability of a win is 78.3% for the Lions. At +295, the implied probability is 25.3% for the Packers. This matchup clearly favors the Lions, at home, on a short week, against an inferior opponent that they already handled earlier this season, and the betting lines are indicitive of that.
Green Bay Packers Chances To Win vs Detroit Lions
For the Packers to defeat the Lions in Week 12, they are going to need to play much better all the way around than they did in Week 4.
For the Lions, they'd love to copy and paste the script from their earlier encounter this season.
How The Packers Win vs Lions
The Packers game plan needs to start with better protection for Jordan Love up front, while Love needs to do a much better time of playing within the rhythm of the offense and getting the ball in the hands of his playmakersβsomething he struggled with in Week 4.
Green Bay hasn't been able to run the football all year long, so that is unlikely to change this week, especially with Aaron Jones unlikely to play. The truth is that the Packers are likely going to need some big Lions mistakes in this game, which plagued Detroit last week against the Bears.
How The Lions Win vs Packers
The Lions' defense has looked two steps ahead of the Packers at every moment over their past few matchups. The Lions confused the Packers, switched up their coverages, and got pressure up front, while remaining stout enough against the run. This has led to a completely inefficient Packers' offense.
The Lions success on defense starts with the play of Aidan Hutchinson up front, who has been a menace against the Packers in their last two matchups. If Detroit can get Hutchinson matched up on the Packers left tackle, either Rasheed Walker or Yosh Nijman, they should have success pressuring Love throughout the day.
Packers Lions Prop Bets
Player and team props are now available for both teams at the top sportsbooks. Here's a look at some of the most intriguing prop bets:
Packers Lions Player Props
The Lions did a phenomenal job of keeping Aaron Jones in check in 2022, due in part to Packers playing from behind in both games. Jones is also returning from injury this week. Meanwhile, Christian Watson is just coming back from injury, so expect him to be limited even if he does end up playing in this game. You can look at potential wagers on WR Romeo Doubs' production as an alternative.
Player Prop | Odds |

π¦ Jared Goff Over 1.5 TDs: | -145 |
π¦ Amon-Ra St. Brown Over 82.5 Rec. Yds | -120 |
π§ A.J. Dillon 1st TD Scorer: | +950 |

Romeo Doubs had an impressive day for the Packers, leading the team with 95 receiving yards on 9 catches. He could be a popular target again for Jordan Love.

History of Green Bay Packers Detroit Lions Games
The Lions and Packers have been playing since the Green Bay Packers defeated the then-Portsmouth Spartans back on Nov. 2, 1930. The Packers would win that day 47-13 and have had the advantage in the rivalry ever since.
The two teams have played each other a total of 188 times, including twice in the postseason. While it's been a series the Packers have traditionally dominated, the Lions have been much harder for the Packers to handle as of late.

Packers Record vs Lions
The Packers are 105-76-7 all-time against the Detroit Lions and have won both of their playoff matchups in (which just so happened to both take place in 1994).
Despite the Packers having 29 games up on the Lions, the Lions have won the last 4 matchups, and are actually 8-5 in their last 13 games against the Packers. As of late, the wins have come in streaks for both teams. The Packers won 3 in a row, followed by the Lions winning 4 in a row, the Packers then won 5 in a row, and the Lions are currently on a 4-game winning streak.
In their last 9 matchups, 6 of the games have been one-score games.
All-Time Best Green Bay Packers Detroit Lions Games
The Packers and Lions have had some pretty amazing games over the past 90+ years, but a Hail Mary and two big playoff games stand out amongst the rest.
NFC Wild Card Game (Jan. 8, 1994)
The first-ever meeting of the two franchises in the postseason saw the Packers matchup with the Lions in the Wild Card round of the 1993-1994 season. The Lions had won the week prior, giving the Lions home field advantage in the game. It looked as if the Lions would win their second consecutive game and head to the divisional round, as the Packers were trailing 24-21 late in the fourth quarter.
But Brett Favre would roll to his left and somehow find an open Sterling Sharpe in the end zone on the opposite side of the field. Favre hit Sharpe in stride for a 40-yard touchdown with 55 seconds remaining, and the Packers would hold on for the victory 28-24.
NFC Wild Card Game (Dec. 31, 1994)
Bury Sanders! The second playoff matchup against the Lions in the same calendar year ended with a 16-12 Packers victory. The fans in the stands held up "Bury Sanders" signs in an effort to rally the Packers' defense against Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders.
The Packers' defense was up to the task, as they held Sanders to -1 yards rushing (changed to positive yards later in the week after a stat correction turned a swing pass from a pass to a run). The Packers held Sanders in check and never trailed through the entirety of the game.
Week 13, 2015
The Miracle in Motown!: With 8:54 to go in the third quarter, the Lions took a 20-0 lead on a 34-yard Matt Prater field goal. But back-to-back touchdowns by Randall Cobb and Davante Adams would close the gap to 20-14. Another Prater field goal and an Aaron Rodgers touchdown run made it 23-21, but it looked like the Lions would escape with the victory. But after the Lions punted the Packers had first-and-10 from their own 21-yard line with 23 seconds remaining, down by 2.
After two incompletions, only 6 seconds remained, and the Packers were still 79 yards away from the end zone. A Lions' facemask penalty brought the ball out to the 39-yard line and gave Rodgers one final play on an untimed down. Rodgers heaved the ball deep to Richard Rodgers for a 61-yard Hail Mary touchdown and a miracle victory over the Lions, 27-23.
