A.J. Dillon Free Agent Odds: Where Will the RB Land?

A.J. Dillon Free Agent Odds: Where Will the RB Land?
Fact Checked by Michael Peters

Running back A.J. Dillon has had decent production in four years with the Green Bay Packers. So one might think that with Aaron Jones gone, Dillon might become the guy. Or not. Will Dillon also have to find a new home as a result of so much player movement within the NFL this week?

This would be a question worth monitoring for Wisconsin sports betting if the legal market were active in the state. As it stands, Dillon’s movement, or lack thereof, will be of interest to Cheeseheads throughout the state and everywhere else.

Here is our take on where running back A.J. Dillon will play in the 2024 NFL season:

A.J. Dillon Next Team Odds

Team Odds Percent Chance
Dallas Cowboys +300 24.8%
Indianapolis Colts +650 13.3%
New York Giants +650 13.3%
Los Angeles Rams +1075 8.5%
The Field/Stay with Packers +150 40.1%

A.J. Dillon’s NFL Attributes

These odds were developed exclusively for BetWisconsin.com.

Dillon was mostly a backup to Jones for the past four seasons, gaining 2,428 rushing yards with 16 touchdowns. He has never had more than 187 carries in a season, so he still has some mileage left at age 25. The running back also has provided an outlet in the passing game, with 86 receptions for 2 TDs.

The immediate problem for Dillon, though, is that Green Bay just agreed to a four-year, $48 million deal with former Raiders RB Josh Jacobs. The Packers aren’t paying Jacobs that kind of money to ride the bench. So if Dillon stays in Green Bay he is likely to have the same role, just behind a different starter.

Where Will Dillon Play in 2024?

In 2019, his final year at Boston College, Dillon led the ACC and was sixth in the nation with 1,685 rushing yards. That was good enough to persuade the Packers to draft him in the second round, No. 62 overall, in the 2020 NFL Draft.

His best pro season was 2021, when Dillon set career highs with 803 rushing yards, 34 receptions, 313 receiving yards and his only two career receiving scores. Last season he started six games, the most of his career, but only had 613 rushing yards (a career low 3.4 yards per carry) and 22 catches.

The Dallas Cowboys lead our list of teams who might acquire Dillon, at +300 odds, or a 24.8% implied probability. Next up in our odds are the Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants (each at +650), then the Los Angeles Rams at +1075.

We give +150 odds, or a 40% implied probability, of Dillon either staying in Green Bay or signing with a team not on our list.
