Will The 2023 Packers Exceed Their Projected Win Total?

Will The 2023 Packers Exceed Their Projected Win Total?
Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

Few quarterbacks have left the kind of imprint that Aaron Rodgers did with the Green Bay Packers.

The four-time MVP has been the Packers’ cornerstone since assuming the starting quarterback role from Brett Favre 2008, guiding Green Bay to a Super Bowl title in 2010 and throwing for more than 59,000 yards and 475 touchdowns during that period.

Now, Rodgers has taken his talents to New York, where he’ll look to follow Favre’s footing and guide the Jets back to glory on the gridiron, while former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love becomes the next signal caller for one of the NFL’s proudest clubs.

As Green Bay prepares for the grind of training camp, oddsmakers at BetMGM Sportsbook have released their early projections for the Packers’ 2023 campaign.

The New York-based operator pegs the Packers’ win total at 7.5 in 2023, with +165 odds of making the postseason and +5000 odds on the franchise winning fifth Super Bowl title in the season ahead. Stay the most up-to-date with the Packers playoff chances, here!

BetWisconsin.com wanted to stack up where the Rodgers-less Packers stand entering the grind of the summer, using those odds to assess where the franchise stands in 2023.

Will Jordan Love Live Up To Hype For Packers?

After three years of riding the pine and learning the ropes from Rodgers, it’s Love’s time to shine in Green Bay.

The 2020 first-round pick had completed 60.2% of his passes in limited playing time over the last three seasons, throwing as many touchdowns as interceptions (three apiece) during that period.

Now, Love will assume the role of being the man for the Packers, following the lead of two Hall of Fame-level quarterbacks that won a combined seven MVPs and two Super Bowls between them.

If Love can match the standard he set at Utah State, where he threw for 8,600 yards and 60 touchdowns (to 29 interceptions), to go with 403 rushing yards and nine scores on the ground, then the Packers will be in good shape going forward.

The front office aimed to help Love and the offense in the 2023 NFL Draft, adding former Oregon State tight end Luke Musgrave with the 11th pick and Michigan State wideout Jayden Reed in the second round to bolster Green Bay’s passing attack.

Those two, in addition to wideouts Allen Lazard and Christian Watson, will figure to factor in big time for Green Bay in the passing game this season.

Lazard and Watson combined to haul in 101 catches for 1,399 yards and 13 touchdowns for Green Bay a season ago, while running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon had 1,991 yards and nine scores on the ground for the Packers in 2022.

Expect both backs to play a more significant role in Green Bay’s offense in 2023, as the Packers look to break Love into their offensive scheme without throwing him to the wolves out of the gate.

It appears that oddsmakers are open to Love doing just that, though, with BetMGM Sportsbook giving the Packers decent playoff and Super Bowl odds for a franchise in flux. There's no doubt Wisconsin BetMGM sportsbook will be all over the Packers odds as soon as they are live in the State.

We’ll find out for sure just how championship-worthy the Packers are come early September, when Green Bay opens the year with consecutive road games against the Bears and Falcons, before hosting the upstart Saints and Lions to close out the month.
